About Franciscan Monastery Museum
Croatia
Located at the Placa, the main street of Dubrovnik, the Franciscan Church and Monastery is a large complex belonging to the Order of the Friars Minor, consisting of a monastery, church, library and the 3rd oldest pharmacy in the world. The 17th-century library contains over 20,000 books, including rare, handwritten manuscripts and an exhibition of liturgical artifacts. The Franciscan Monastery and Museum are deeply tied to Dubrovnik’s history, reflecting the city’s spiritual, medical, and cultural heritage. The monastery itself is a fine example of Romanesque-Gothic architecture, with a stunning cloister featuring elegant arches and a peaceful garden.
