About Baeza Cathedral (Cathedral de Baeza)
Andalucía
The Cathedral of Baeza is one of the town’s most impressive landmarks, blending Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles. Built on the site of a former mosque, it symbolizes the cultural transformations that shaped Andalusia’s history. • Originally a mosque during the Muslim period, it was converted into a Christian cathedral after the Reconquista in the 13th century. The current design was shaped in the 16th century, with significant contributions by Andrés de Vandelvira, a renowned Renaissance architect. The interior features beautiful, vaulted ceilings, altarpieces, and chapels filled with religious art, while the exterior façade has a mix of Gothic and Plateresque details, showcasing intricate stonework. Climb the tower for breathtaking panoramic views of Baeza and the surrounding olive groves.
