Hotel Review - Terme di Saturnia Natural Spa and Golf, Tuscany

Terme di Saturnia Natural Spa and Golf Resort in Tuscany is by far one of the best Spa resorts I have ever visited. I call it a magical place suspended between water and sky, a warm beneficial hug.

Natural SPA hotels are always something special. They are places where we can stay, relax, sleep, eat and enjoy a closeness with our mother earth. In fact where the thermal water flows the Earth’s crust is thinner and its believed there are incredible health benefits linked to the thermal waters.

What makes this resort stand out first for formost is the location perched on gentle hills with 360 degree views of the Maremma region, a wild part of southern Tuscany between Apennines and Tyrrhenian Sea. These beauitful hills are covered with vineyars that produce the famous Morellino di Scansano wine.

The hotel is located along the Via Clodia, an old roman road which runs parallel to the natural springs that feed its main outdoor pool.  You’ll never get bored lounging by this incredible pool (naturally heated to 37.5 °C) and gazing at the misty horizon.   It’s the perfect place to lose your stress and worries.  Forget elegant outfits and heels, the dress code at Terme di Saturnia Natural Spa and Golf is the soft bathrobe that you’ll find in your room.  Its not uncommon to take an early morning swim and then enjoy breakfast in the comfort of your bathrobe.

The hotel has 124 rooms divided 5 rooms categories, Superior, Deluxe, Junior Suite, Suite and Grand Suite, all recently refurbished and exquisitely appointed. The restaurant is located along the outdoor thermal pool and serves local Tuscan food.  The wine list is excellent with a focus on wines from the Maremma region. Breakfast is served in a separated room and has a wide selection of local products.

A stay at Terme di Saturnia Natural Spa and Golf Resort wouldn’t be complete without a visit the beautiful surrounding towns of Pitigliano, Sovana and Sorano, all Etruscan towns carved out of “Tufaceous” rock (volcanic rock) each uniquely charming and full of history, crafts and delicious enogastronomy. Head to the cost and visit the islands of Tuscan Arcipelago as Isola del Giglio, Isola di Giannutri and Isola di Capraia.  Here enjoy some hiking, taste local wines and take a swim in the blue sea water.
