The Matterhorn Alpine Crossing is an extraordinary cable car journey connecting Zermatt, Switzerland, to Breuil-Cervinia, Italy, via Europe’s highest cable car border crossing. Officially opened on July 1, 2023, the 3S gondola lift operates year-round and spans 9 stations, offering a smooth route between the two famous ski resorts. The journey begins in Zermatt at 1,620 metres, ascending to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise at 3,883 metres. From there, continue via the Matterhorn Glacier Ride II to Testa Grigia at 3,458 metres in Italy, before descending to Breuil-Cervinia at 2,050 metres. The entire trip takes around 90 minutes, providing breathtaking views of the Matterhorn and surrounding alpine scenery. Whether you’re skiing, snowboarding, or simply enjoying the alpine beauty, the Matterhorn Alpine Crossing offers an unforgettable experience with stunning vistas and the thrill of crossing an international border at high altitude. The trip can be taken in either direction.
