About The Rose Garden
Bern
The Rose Garden is one of Bern’s most beautiful parks and a favourite spot for both locals and visitors. Overlooking the Old Town and the Aare Loop, it offers breathtaking panoramic views alongside tranquil gardens filled with 220 varieties of roses, 200 types of irises, and 28 species of rhododendrons. Originally a cemetery from 1765 to 1877, the site was transformed into a public park in 1913 and later redesigned between 1956 and 1962 to include additional floral displays, a pond, and serene walking paths. Visitors can relax in the pavilion or reading garden, while the Rosengarten restaurant provides the perfect place to enjoy a meal with one of the best views in Bern.
