About Bardini Gardens (Giardino Bardini)
Florence
Bardini Gardens are one of Florence’s most beautiful and lesser-known green spaces, offering fabulous views over the city from a peaceful hillside in the Oltrarno district. Spanning four hectares, the gardens blend several historical styles, including a grand 17th-century Baroque staircase lined with statues and fountains, a romantic 19th-century Anglo-Chinese Garden, and terraced orchards filled with fruit trees. One of the most iconic features is the long pergola draped in purple wisteria, which creates a dreamlike tunnel of blooms in spring, especially in late April when it reaches full splendour. Originally part of a medieval estate owned by the Mozzi family, the gardens were later transformed by the prominent art dealer Stefano Bardini in the early 20th century.
