Sagrada Família
Antoni Gaudí’s renowned unfinished church, started in the 1880s, with museum and city views
About Sagrada Família
Barcelona
Barcelona’s most iconic landmark and one of the most extraordinary basilicas in the world, Sagrada Família designed by the renowned architect Antoni Gaudí is a masterpiece of architecture and an enduring symbol of the city. Famously unfinished after the death of Gaudí, work has continued slowly with an expected completion hoped for 2026 – 140 years after construction began. The facades of the stunning gothic building each depict a different part of the life of Christ, and the interior is inspired by nature, with columns designed to resemble trees branching out to support the ceiling. Stunning stained-glass windows that fill the basilica with vibrant, multicoloured light. In the basement a museum provides insights into Gaudí’s architectural methods, the history of the Sagrada Família, and ongoing construction techniques.
