About Ciutadella Park (Parc de la Ciutadella)
Barcelona
Ciutadella Park (Parc de la Ciutadella) is one of Barcelona’s most iconic and beloved green spaces. Located near the city centre in the El Born district, it serves as a peaceful retreat and a hub of cultural, historical, and recreational activities. The central feature is the Cascada Monumental, grand waterfall and fountain designed by Josep Fontserè with contributions from a young Antoni Gaudí. It features ornate sculptures, including winged dragons, nymphs, and a central chariot pulled by sea horses. The Barcelona Zoo is located within the park, known for its diverse range of animals and conservation programs, and a giant stone mammoth statue is a popular photo spot, especially for families with children. Scattered throughout the park are sculptures by notable artists, including the Despair of the Waves and Monument to General Prim.
