Day: 1 Broadway (Worcestershire)

Discover the Cotswolds, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty characterised by charming villages of honey-coloured stone, surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. On arrival, stroll the main street lined with red chestnut trees and 16th century buildings, visit the tea rooms and explore its many art and antique shops.

Day: 2 Broadway – Kingham – Lower Slaughter – Bourton-on-the-Water – Naunton – Broadway

Visit a selection of nearby villages. Drive through Blockley and arrive in the story book village of Kingham, featuring rows of unspoilt limestone cottages and open village greens. The village was voted England’s favourite and hosts Jamie Oliver for The Big Feastival in August. Stop at The White Rabbit, the local’s favourite pub. Continue to Lower Slaughter that boasts England’s most romantic street in England, Copse Hill Road. Afterward, explore Bourton-on-the-Water, known as ‘the Venice of the Cotswolds’. Here the River Windrush trickles through the village under small bridges. Finish off the tourist route with a visit of the delightful unspoiled Naunton.

Ride the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway to Cheltenham and continue to Painswick, an historic wool town dubbed the ‘Queen of the Cotswolds’. Painswick’s St Mary Church, the celebrated Rococo Gardens at Painswick House are worthwhile. Continue to Cirencester and visit Corinium Museum and the town’s markets. Afterward, visit Bibury, referred to as England’s most beautiful village. Arlington Row, a row of weaver’s cottages, is recognised as the symbol of the Cotswolds. Finish with of Sudeley Castle & Gardens.

Journey north of the Cotswolds to the medieval market town of Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Enjoy a guided tour of the main attractions including Shakespeare’s home, Anne Hathaway’s cottage, Hall’s Croft and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Afterward, visit Mickleton. The town boasts beautiful black and white thatched cottages interspersed with limestone architecture and the Hidcote walk through hamlets with views over the Vale of Evesham.
