About Villa Carlotta
Italy
Villa Carlotta is one of the most celebrated villas on Lake Como, located in the town of Tremezzo, directly across from the picturesque village of Bellagio. Built at the end of the 17th century by the Milanese marquis Giorgio Clerici, the villa is best known for its stunning gardens and rich artistic heritage. In the 19th century, it was given as a wedding gift to Princess Carlotta of Prussia, after whom the villa is now named. The property covers over 70,000 square metres and features terraced botanical gardens filled with exotic plants, century-old trees, camellias, azaleas, and an extraordinary spring display of blooming rhododendrons. Inside the neoclassical villa, you can admire an impressive collection of sculptures, paintings, and decorative arts, including works by Canova, Hayez and Thorvaldsen. Overlooking the lake and surrounded by lush greenery, Villa Carlotta offers a peaceful yet culturally rich experience that reflects both the elegance of Italian aristocratic life and the natural beauty of the region.
