Jewish Quarter of Córdoba (La Judería)
Historic district with a medieval synagogue, Maimonides’ statue, charming alleys, and rich Sephardic heritage
About Jewish Quarter of Córdoba (La Judería)
Andalucía
The Jewish Quarter of Córdoba, also known as La Judería, is a charming historic district that reflects the rich Sephardic Jewish heritage of medieval Spain. Wandering through its narrow, whitewashed streets is like stepping back in time. The area flourished between the 10th and 15th centuries, when Córdoba was a major cultural and intellectual centre of Al-Andalus and was home to the Jewish community until the 1492 expulsion under the Catholic Monarchs. Be sure to wander along Calleja de las Flores, a picturesque alley filled with colourful flowerpots and stunning views of the Mezquita, and browse the stalls at Zoco Municipal (Craft Market), a traditional artisan market offering unique local crafts.
