Great Langdale Valley
A spectacular Lake District valley surrounded by rugged peaks, waterfalls and some of Cumbria’s most beautiful walking country.
About Great Langdale Valley
England
Great Langdale is one of the Lake District’s most evocative landscapes, framed by dramatic mountains including the Langdale Pikes. The valley combines open fell scenery with woodland, streams, stone walls and traditional farms, making it an excellent setting for walking and scenic drives. Its history is also deeply connected to the landscape: the nearby Langdale area was an important source of Neolithic stone for axe production, which travelled far beyond Cumbria. The valley is best experienced on foot, with walks ranging from gentle valley routes to more challenging fell hikes.
