A Review of Villa Cordevigo

A short review of Villa Cordevigo – Just 25 minutes from Verona airport and only 10 minutes from Lake Garda you will find Villa Cordevigo in the heart of Valpolicella country. As a wine lover, this estate is perfect as it is home to so many of Veneto’s fine wines and olive oil.

The hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant (run by chef Giuseppe D’Aquino), makes the food and wine experience astronomical. The extensive wine list features fine labels from all over Italy, including Valpolicella, Ripasso and Amarone, still and sparkling Chiaretto, Lugana and sparkling Rebianco, all produced at the villa’s Villabella vineyard.

Back to the hotel itself! The original villa dates back to the 16th century; the southern wing of the building housed a mill in the 18th century, while the northern wing was once a stable and cellar. The wine and olive estate were turned into a country hotel in 2002 after several years of careful restoration. With its elegant and refined atmosphere, the villa exudes historic charm.

Villa Cordevigo estate

My accommodation was located in the main villa and was adorned with beautiful period furnishings and antiques. My room also had a cute stone fireplace. (My advice would be to get a room lower down as the top rooms don’t get as much sunlight).

The hotel also offers a few workshops and activities of their own. I went on a bicycle ride around the vineyards during my Grape to Glass experience with Pablo, a must do! Not only do you learn from a sommelier, you also get a visit to the winery with a complimentary wine tasting back at the villa.

Although I didn’t get a chance to try it out, the Essential Spa offers a fine range of Ayurveda treatments and massages as well as saunas, whirlpools and a large relaxation area. The glassed in air-conditioned gym overlooks the swimming pool, which abuts on to the vineyards, affording fine views to those using the fitness machines.
The place is more like a heaven for food and wine lovers and is also a perfect hideaway for urban people in search of tranquillity. To find out more about the hotel click here. Or contact us to make a booking.
