About Harder Kulm
Bernese Oberland
Harder Kulm, located 1,322 metres above sea level, is Interlaken’s local mountain and a popular spot for panoramic views of the surrounding lakes and peaks. Visitors can reach the summit via a funicular railway from Interlaken, which takes about 10 minutes to ascend 754 meters over 1.4 kilometres. At the top, you are treated to breathtaking views of Lake Thun, Lake Brienz, and the famous Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains. The Two Lakes Bridge, a unique viewing platform with a glass floor, offers a 360-degree view of the landscape. The Panorama Restaurant serves traditional Swiss dishes like cheese fondue and raclette, with seating for about 500 people. As reservations are not accepted, it’s recommended to arrive early, especially during busy times. For those interested in hiking, a moderately steep 5-kilometer trail leads to the summit, with an elevation gain of 700 metres. The hike usually takes 2.5 to 3 hours, providing stunning views along the way.
