About St Stephen's Green
Co. Dublin
A Victorian-style park, St. Stephen’s Green is one of Dublin’s most famous and beautiful public parks, offering a tranquil escape right in the heart of the city. The layout of the park is based on a rectangular shape, with walking paths leading to a central large pond. One of the focal points of the park is its large ornamental fountain, located near the Leeson Street entrance. It is surrounded by lush flower beds and benches where people can relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. In the southwest corner of the park, you’ll find a bandstand, which hosts various performances and concerts during the summer months. The central pond in the park is home to a variety of wildlife, including ducks and swans, and squirrels can often be found in the surrounding trees. St. Stephen’s Green is famously associated with Ireland’s struggle for independence. In 1916, the park played a significant role during the Easter Rising and Irish rebels occupied the park and fought against British forces.
