About Fraumünster Church
Switzerland
Standing on the west bank of the Limmat, the Fraumünster Church is one of Zurich’s most iconic landmarks, instantly recognisable by its elegant green steeple. Founded in the 9th century, it sits opposite the Grossmünster and is famed for its stunning stained glass windows—five created by Marc Chagall in the 1960s and “The Heavenly Paradise” by Augusto Giacometti, crafted in 1945. Inside, visitors can also admire a series of frescos by Paul Bodmer illustrating the city’s founding legends and its patron saints, Felix and Regula. The church houses Zurich’s largest organ, featuring 5,793 pipes, making it both a historical and artistic treasure in the heart of the city.
