About Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge
Ballintoy
Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge is a popular tourist attraction located on the Causeway Coast of Northern Ireland. The bridge connects the mainland to the small island of Carrickarede, which was traditionally used by fishermen to access their fishing nets. The bridge is made of rope and swings high above the sea, providing stunning views of the surrounding coastline, as well as the nearby island of Rathlin and Scotland on clear days. You must walk along a path to reach the bridge, which is situated about 30 metres above the sea. The experience is thrilling for many, as the bridge sways in the wind, though it’s perfectly safe to cross. The area around Carrick-a-Rede is rich in natural beauty, with cliffs, diverse wildlife, and spectacular views. It’s also part of the Giant’s Causeway UNESCO World Heritage Site and a short distance from other popular attractions like the Dark Hedges and Dunluce Castle.
