Arco Naturale
Arch-shaped rock formation from the Paleolithic age, overlooking the sea
About Arco Naturale
Campania
The Arco Naturale is one of Capri’s most striking natural wonders. It’s a huge limestone arch formed by erosion over thousands of years and is all that remains of a collapsed sea cave from the Paleolithic era. The arch rises about 20 meters high and spans roughly 12 metres across, framing a dramatic view of the turquoise sea far below. You’ll find the Arco Naturale on the eastern side of Capri, and it’s reachable by foot from Capri town. The walk takes about 25 to 30 minutes and winds through peaceful residential lanes and Mediterranean vegetation. Along the way, you can also explore the nearby Grotta di Matermania, an ancient Roman cave sanctuary, and continue along the scenic Pizzolungo path, which eventually connects to stunning viewpoints of the Faraglioni sea stacks and Villa Malaparte.
