Day: 1 Ljubljana

Tucked between Italy, Austria and Croatia, Slovenia maybe small and relatively undiscovered, but it delivers pristine alpine villages, cliffside castles, emerald lakes and a stunning coastline. On arrival, transfer to your wonderful hotel and enjoy the rest of the day to explore the pedestrian friendly historic centre with cafés lining the banks of the Ljubljana River, beautiful Plečnik designed buildings, museums and a vibrant atmosphere.

Day: 2 Ljubljana

Enjoy a guided walking tour of Ljubljana’s old town including the Kresija Building, Robba Fountain, Ljubljana Cathedral, Ljubljana Castle, Town Square, Cobblers Bridge, Triple Bridge, Franciscan Church of the Annunciation, Prešeren Square and Dragon Bridge. Afterward, enjoy a welcome lunch at a local restaurant. The rest of the day is available to enjoy at your leisure. With so many Museums in the city, enticing options include the National Museum of Slovenia and The Museum of Modern Art.

Day: 3 Ljubljana – Žiče – Maribor – Ljubljana

Enjoy a full day excursion to the beautiful Štajerska wine region. Start with a brief visit to Žiče Charterhouse, an ancient 12th century monastery. Explore the ruins and the exhibition before continuing to the Štajerska wine region known for its aromatic whites. The landscape around Špičnik, is characterised by beautiful vineyards nestled on rolling hills including the famous heart-shaped road ‘Heart of Slovenia’. After a wine tasting, enjoy a gourmet lunch at a renowned restaurant. Finish with leisure time in Maribor, a medieval pedestrian village that boasts ‘Stara Trta’, the world’s oldest vine at 400 years, before returning to Ljubljana.

Day: 4 Ljubljana – Škofja Loka – Lake Bled

Visit the town of Škofja Loka to explore Loka Castle, Loka Museum and the town square’s famous pastel-hued 16th century houses. Continue to Lake Bled, set in a picturesque location surrounded by mountains and forests. On arrival, visit Bled Castle, the oldest in Slovenia dating to 1011AD, followed by an organised lunch with a magnificent view of the Lake. In the afternoon, take a cruise on Lake Bled on a traditional Pletna and visit the Island’s historic church. The rest of the day is available at leisure to absorb the breath-taking scenery.

Day: 5 Lake Bled – Triglav National Park – Kranjska Gora – Lake Bled

Today, discover more of Slovenia’s stunning natural beauty. Visit the Triglav National Park and the 1600 metre Vintgar Gorge which features sheer canyon walls between 50 and 100 metres in height. Also visit the picturesque Šum Waterfall, the largest river waterfall in Slovenia. Continue to the alpine resort of Kranjska Gora for an independent lunch before finishing with the gorgeous emerald green Lake Jasna surrounded by stunning alps. Day: 6 Lake Bled – Predjama Castle – Postojna Caves – Piran

Depart Lake Bled for a visit of Predjama Castle, built within a cave mouth to make access difficult. The structure dates to the 13th century and features a hidden passageway. Continue to Postojna Caves, Queen of the underground world. Experience a fascinating subterranean paradise shaped by tiny water droplets over millions of years. The caves are also home to ‘baby dragons’, the rare and unusual Olm, found only in the Dinaric karst. After your tour, continue to the charming coastline to check into your seaside hotel.
